Three Elgato Key Light Alternatives

If you already have the basic live streaming equipment and you are streaming for a while now, you should think about possible ways to improve the quality of your content.

Elgato - a separate brand within CORSAIR - is a brand specialized to improve the hardware (and in some cases software) of content creators with high-quality items designed especially for them.

As a part of their product line, they designed the “Key Light” and the “Key Light Air” which are easy to install, high-quality lighting specially designed for video content creator studios.

As Elgato is the lead brand for premium quality streaming equipment, there is, of course, a high price tag on their items. But what if you are just a small streamer with a limited budget, but you want to improve the quality of your streams and videos?

In this post, I’m giving you 3 Elgato Key Light alternatives, so you would not have to use a white background on your second monitor to light up your face anymore!

Why do I need to have lighting in my studio / gaming room?

Streaming is about showing your high-quality content to your watchers. Your community thrives off of your reactions and the emotions showing on your face as well as high-quality content in whatever category you are streaming.

This means that you should always keep in mind that becoming successful as a streamer suggests that you use a webcam and show yourself - your face mainly - in premium quality. Showing your face can make your audience feel easier to connect with you.

Just like in photography, for creating quality and enjoyable images, using the perfect light is key. Good lighting also makes your images more lifelike - one good light can add dimension to your video.

If you have natural sunlight on your face during your stream sessions, it is not necessary to use artificial lights; however, you can not control the sunlight. If you are streaming at nighttime with little to no light in your room, or if you are aiming truly on premium content creation, I highly recommend buying a pair of artificial light for your streaming hub.

Viltrox VL 200

These look extremely close to how the Elgato ones do: they are super slim, and even the size of each panel is almost the same. For these, you have to spend almost the same amount of money if you have bought the Elgato one, but these come in a 2 pack, this means you’ll get two light for the price of one.
